SERVICES
At Loughborough Massage Therapy we pride ourselves on providing a range of services and treatment options for our clients
We take a multifaceted approach to rehabilitating injuries, aleviating stress and helping our clients become and remain injury and pain free

DEEP TISSUE / SPORTS MASSAGE
Deep tissue therapy uses firm pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia. It's used for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, lower back pain, leg muscle tightness and sore shoulders.
Sports massage is geared toward athletes of every kind, from World Class professionals to weekend joggers. Specifically designed sport massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, helps prevent injuries and prepares the body for optimal performance.
Many injuries are brought about by overusing certain muscles. This can result in soreness, pain and inflammation. Regularly scheduled sports massages can help reduce the muscles becoming overused in the first place and can also help reduce the initial inflammation that leads to injury.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the:
-
bones, joints and soft tissue – such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries
-
brain or nervous system – such as movement problems resulting from a stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson's disease
-
heart and circulation – such as rehabilitation after a heart attack
-
lungs and breathing – such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis
Physiotherapy can improve your physical activity while helping you to prevent further injuries. Physiotherapists consider the body as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of an injury or illness.

CUPPING THERAPY
Treatment in which a therapist puts specially made glass cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines and rheumatism.

KINESIOLOGY TAPING
Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive.
Kinesiology tape can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions. It is used for treating athletic injuries and a variety of physical disorders.
When the tape is applied, it achieves excellent results by lifting the skin to create a small space between the muscle and dermis layers. That space takes the pressure off swelling or injured muscles, allows smooth muscle movement and makes space for drainage and blood flow.

COMPRESSION BOOTS
Compression boots are specialised footwear worn by athletes, weekend warriors, and anyone looking to support their muscular recovery after a workout. These boots apply controlled pressure to the extremities - such as the legs - to improve blood flow and lymphatic system functions.

Compression boots help recovery by using compression therapy to improve circulation and reduce swelling. This can lead to relief from muscle soreness and a shorter recovery time after physical activities. They may also increase flexibility, lower muscle soreness levels, and help with injury prevention.

We are currently using this excellent recovery aid at both our Loughborough & Sileby clinics

INJURY ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS
Our therapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice

During a post injury appointment we will carry out an in depth consultation, assessment and diagnosis of the issues and injuries presented, and provide a treatment plan to help rehabilitate the individual
INJURY REHABILITATION
Rehabilitation after illness or injury is a slow step-by-step process that aims to help you recover. Rehabilitation will help you get moving again, regain your strength, relearn skills, or find new ways of doing things

Depending on the type of injury you have sustained, your programme will include a number of parts which may include strengthening exercises, mobilising, pain relief techniques and functional skills

We aim to maximise recovery by tailoring the rehabilitation to your individual goals and monitoring your progress throughout
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
A pregnancy massage is a specially adapted gentle and soothing massage tailored specifically for the mother-to-be. A pregnancy massage is the perfect way to help you to feel a little more comfortable, by soothing any aches and pains that you may have
A pregnancy massage is a little different to a regular massage, mainly in terms of positioning and using gentler strokes. Massage during pregnancy will always be performed in a position that is comfortable to you – lying on your side or possibly on your back if you feel ok in this position

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
Lymphatic massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to move excess fluid buildup away from your tissues and toward working lymph vessels and lymph nodes so they can get rid of toxins in your body. It can help reduce swelling and inflammation caused by injury, surgery, or lymphedema.
This treatment may benefit people with fibromyalgia
Benefits include; reduced swelling, improved circulation, detoxification, relaxation, improved immune system, improved recovery

SCAR THERAPY
An effective treatment for both new and old scars. Used to positively change movement, appearance, sensation and feel around the scarring. Effective with all types of scars including hip/ knee replacements, gastrointestinal, mastectomies, lumpectomies, DIEP Flap reconstructions, tummy tucks and C-Sections/hysterectomies
POSTNATAL MOT
Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction.
These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.
It’s recommended that women have an initial assessment at 6-8 weeks postnatal, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.
Mums need to bend, squat and lift so we provide postnatal clinical care and functional exercises for female clients following birth (no matter how long ago).
